Helped jump-start the Library’s expansion and renovation, designed to ensure senior-friendly areas and programs with a gift of $75,000
Bought the Silver Streak, a 20-passenger bus, to transport seniors
Paid for the certification and CDL licensing of a driver for the Silver Streak
Committed $10,000 for the purchase of video magnifier units for use in seniors’ homes, at the Senior Center and at the Library
Awarded a $25,000 grant to the Shelter Island Historical Society for its ‘Living History” program to record, present and permanently archive interviews with Island seniors
Pledged $4,000 for materials to facilitate the building of access ramps at seniors homes, at no cost to the recipients
Leased medical-alert systems to seniors who need them to ensure peace of mind
Provided benches and materials for a picnic table at the Lions pavilion at Wades Beach
Contributed to the remodeling of the Wades Beach bathhouse to store a device used to assist in transporting disabled persons in and out of the water
Subsidized Community Thanksgiving and St. Mary’s Christmas dinners, including home-delivered meals to seniors
Your donations have done all this and so much more, including meals and snacks for personnel during the COVID vaccinations; tickets and transportation to the the Historical Society’s summer musicals and high school musicals and paying for entertainment at senior luncheons at our Community Center.
